April 28, 1985 Game 230: Blue Jays (12-5) vs Rangers (6-10)

The Rangers take on the red hot Blue Jays at Arlington Stadium.  The Blue Jays have won 6 in a row and the Rangers have not played well and today the send Mike Mason to the to hill.  The Rangers are hoping that Mason can get some of the kinks out of his game.  Mason has been awful this season and the Rangers believe he could hold the key to their season.  The Blue Jays send Doyle Alexander to the hill and he is 4-0.

The Rangers get to Alexander in the 1st by putting up a 3 spot.  Harrah and Ward single, Tolleson walk, Parrish singles and Harrah and Ward score.  O'Brien bounces into a 3-6-3 double play and Tolleson scores and the Rangers lead it 3-0.

The Blue Jays get one in the 2nd.  Burroughs singles, Upshaw singles, Fernandez singles with 2-outs and Burroughs scores and it is now 3-1 Rangers.   In the 3rd the Blue Jays add another run.  Barfield bloops a single with 2-outs.  Burroughs walks, Upshaw singles and Barfield scores and the score is now 3-2 Rangers. The Rangers add to their lead in the bottom of the 3rd Harrah doubles and then Ward singles him home to give the Rangers a 4-2 lead.

The Jays tie it up in the 4th.  Thornton leads of with a double and advances to 3rd on a passed ball.  Garcia hits a deep fly to center and Thornton scores,  Iorg singles, Bell singles, Barfield singles scoring Iorg and the score is now tied at 4.

In the 6th the Blue Jays take the lead.  Fernandez and Garcia single.  Barfield draws a 2-out walk to load the bases.  Burroughs doubles and the Fernandez and Garcia score and it is now 6-4 Blue Jays and that is all for Mason. The Rangers get one back in the bottom Half of the inning.  Parrish gets on second due to a 2BE on Alexander.  Dunbar singles with 2-outs and Parrish scores to make it 6-5 Blue Jays.

The Blue Jays put the game away in the 8th when Upshaw hits a 2-out 3 run homer off of Dave Stewart.  The score is now 9-5. Dennis Lamp pitches the 9th for the Jays and shuts down the Rangers and the Blue Jays have now won 7 in a row.
