April 29, 1985 Game 231: Red Sox (11-7) at Angels (13-6)

The Angles are starting to separate themselves from the rest of the west.  Today they take on the Red Sox and they are red hot.  The Angels send Ron Romanick to the hill and the Red Sox send the struggling Bruce Hurst to the mound.

In the 1st the Angels get on the board when Pettis leads off with a double, Jones rips a flyball in the right center gap and Armas looks like he is going to get it but it hits off his glove and rolls to the wall and Pettis scores easily.  The official scoring marks it down as a 2BE.  The Angels lead it 1-0

The Red Sox tie it up at 1 in the 2nd on a Easler 1-out homerun.  The Angels seize control in the 3rd.  Carew singles with 2-outs, Jones walks, DeCinces singles to load the bases.  Jackson hits a roller to Gutierrez and he can't handle it and is charged with an error allowing Carew to score. Downing delivers a  clutch single scoring Jones and DeCinces.  Grich follows with a single scoring Jackson and the Angels lead it 5-1.

The Red Sox get one back in the 4th when Rice crushes his 9th homer of the season.  The score is now 5-2 Angels.  In the 5th the Angles get that run back as Jackson launches his 5th homer of the season and gives the Angels a 6-2 lead.

The Final Score is 6-2 Angels
