May 1, 1985 Game 251: Blue Jays (14-6) Angels (14-7)

It is the battle of 1st place teams.  The Blue Jays have been on fire as of late and the Angels sre the definition of consistent.  The Blue Jays send Dave Steib to the hill and he will be looking for his 5th win of the season.  The Angles counter with Kirk McCaskill who has been solid so far.

The Angels get on the board first in the 3rd when Stieb leaves a fastball up in the strikezone and Schofield hits his 3rd homer of the season.  The Angles take the lead in the 5th and they find a chink in McCaskills armor.  Mulliniks and Barfield draw walks.  Upshaw then rips a double that will score both runners and Upshaw advances to 3rd on the Beniquez throwing error.  Oliver then doubles scoring Barfield and it is 3-1 Blue Jays.

In the 4th the Angesl cut into the Blue Jays lead when Downong lauches his 7th homer of sthe season and it is now 3-2 Blue Jays.  In the 8th Barfield puts the nail in the coffin with a 2 run shot off of McCaskill and it is now 5-2 Blue Jays.

Henke closes out the 9th and picks up his 5th save.
