May 8, 1985 Game 325: Braves (10-14) at Mets (14-9)

It was a crazy game at Shea Stadium today.  The braves were in complete control until the 9th.  Rick Camp got the start for the Braves and Ed Lynch for the Mets.

The Braves get on the board in the 1st. Komminsk hits a slow roller to Santana who charges and throws it away and Komminsk is on 2nd and Harper scores.  The score is 1-0 Braves.  The Mets tie it up in the 2nd.  Johnson singles with runners on 1st and 2nd and Foster comes around to make it a 1-1 game.

In the 4th Zuvella with the bases loaded bounces into a 6-4 FC and the Mets allow Murphy to score to gave the Braves a 2-1 lead.  In the 7th the Braves add to their lead.  Ramirez doubles scoring Camp, Murphy doubles scoring Ramirez and it is now a 4-1 Braves lead.

That would not be safe as the Mets mount a comeback in the 9th and Bruce Sutter would not be able to stop them. The Mets have runners on 2nd and 3rd and Backman delivers a double clearing the bases.  Heep singles scoring Backman to tie the game.  Johnson comes up with a 2-out single scoring Heep and the Mets win.

The Final Score 5-4 Mets
