May 8, 1985 Game 327: Reds (14-11) at Phillies (11-13)

Today's game between the Reds and the Phillies had some great pitching and some great defense.  The Reds are trying to sat on atop of the West and the Phillies are trying to get back to .500.

The Phillies send Shane Rawley to the hill and he has a 1-hitter under his belt this season and it looked like he was going to repeat that feat as he was locked and loaded from the 1st pitch.  Mario Soto get the start for the Reds and he leads the National League in most pitching categories and like Rawley he was dialed in.

Hits were minimal, Rawsley didn't give up his 1st hit until the 5th and then only surrendered 2 more the rest of the game.  But one of those hits was a 1-out solo homer off the bat of Redus in the 9th. Soto only allowed 5 hits for the game and the Phillies never threatened.

The Final Score 1-0 Reds
