In the 1st Rice hits a solo homer to give the Red Sox a 1-0 lead. In the 4th the A's take the lead, Murphy scores on a wild pitch and Kingman scores on a Davis single and the A's have a 2-1 lead.The A's increase their lead in the 5th. Henderson doubles, Griffin bunts him over to 3rd. Lansford hits a dribbler back to Hurst who can't pick it and is charged an error and that allows Henderson to score and it is now 3-1.
The Red Sox tie it up in the 6th on Armas's 1-out 2 run homer to make it 3-3. Then in the 8th Rice hits a 2 run shot off of Codiroli and the Red Sox have a 5-3 lead. Stanley closes out the 9th for his 9th save.
