May 11, 1985 Game 358: Cubs (15-12) at Padres (15-13)

The Padres take the Cubs on today and Andy Hawkins will face off against Steve Trout.  Neither one of these starters have been very consistent this season.  Both are trying to stay towards the top of their division.

In the 4th the Cubs take the lead.  Sandberg singles and steals 2nd.  Bosley hits into a 4-3 FC and Sandberg moves up to 3rd.  A passed ball on Bochy allows Sandberg to score and the Cubs lead it 1-0.  The Padres tie it in the 5th, with runners on 1st and 3rd Gwynn singles and Martinez scores to make it 1-1.

In the 8th the Cubs have runners on the corners and Durham hits a deep fly to right.  Sandberg Tags up and score easily and it is 2-1 Cubs.  The Padres tie it up in the 8th on GArvey's 2-out solo homer.  This game would head to extras and the Padres get the winning run in the 11th.  Bumbry delivers a pinch hit double, Royster follows with a single and Bumbry scores for the win.
