May 13, 1985 Game 378: Phillies (12-16) at Reds (17-12)

The Reds are trying to keep pace with the red hot Dodgers and today they take on the annoying Philles.  They will send Mario Soto out to try and be the first pitcher to notch 7 wins and he will be squaring off against Kevin Gross who is looking for his 1st win.

The Reds take the lead in the 4th on Esasky's 2-run homer and the Reds lead it 2-0.  The Phillies get one of those runs back in the 5th.  Daulton is on 1st after drawing a walk and Jeltz laces a single and on the throw back in Parker launches it over everyone's
head and that allows Daulton to score and Jeltz ends up at 3rd and it is now a 2-1 Reds lead.

In the 6th the Phillies take a 3-2 lead.  Wilson singles with the bases loaded and Schmidt scores.  Jeltz then hits a 2-out single that will score Hayes to give the Phillies the lead.  The Phillies open this one up in the 7th.  They have runners on 1st and 2nd when Schmidt triples scoring both runners.  Wilson then doubles scoring Schmidt and then Daulton singles scoring Wilson and it is now 7-2.  The Reds get a feeble run in the 8th when Concepcion doubles with runners on 1st and 2nd and Parker comes around to score to make it 7-3 Phillies.

The Final Score 7-3 Phillies
