May 14, 1985 Game 384: Mariners (12-19) at Red Sox (19-11)

It is a pack house at Fenway Park today as the 1st place Red Sox take on the Mariners.  Al Nipper will square off against Mark Langston who is struggling to find his form.

The Mariners get on the board in the 2nd when Davis hits a 1-out solo homer to make it 1-0 Mariners.  They add a run in the 4th; With runners on 1st and 3rd Presley hits a SACFLY to center that will score Thomas and give the Mariners a 2-0 lead.

In the 5th the Mariners make it 3-0, when Bradley hits a double and advances to 3rd on Lyons's throwing error and he would score on a SACFLY to left by Cowens.  But it would all come to an end as the Red Sox take this game over in the bottom of the 5th.  Buckner homers, Gedman doubles and scores on Barrett's single.  Then with the bases loaded Evans hits a Grand Slam to make it 6-3.

In the the 7th the Mariners have the bases loaded and Nipper is releived by Bob Stanley.  Stanley gets Cowens to hit into a 6-4-3 double play scoring Owen  and that would be all they would get and the score is 6-4 Red Sox.
