May 14, 1985 Game 385: Phillies (13-16) at Reds (17-13)

The Reds are looking to get back on track as the have quietly slipped out of 1st and are quickly dropping down to 3rd.  Thoday they take on the Phillies who have won three in a row.  The Reds send Tom Browning to toe the rubber and the Phillies send Shane Rawley who has been one of the best pitchers in the National League.  His lack of run support is why no one is taking notice.

The Phillies get on the board quickly as Samuel leads off the game with a single and steals 2nd.  Schmidt then laces a 1-out single and Samuel scores to give the Phillies a 1-0 lead.

That is where this game would stand until the bottom of the 9th when the Reds comeback.  Concepcion doubles and would then score on Van Gorder's double to tie the game at 1 and we head into extras.  In the 10th Aguayo hits a 2 run homer off of Robinson and the Phillies have a 3-1 lead.  Tekulve pitches the 10th to pick up his 7th save and Rawley earns the win.

The Final Score 3-1 Phillies
