Bob Welch was wheelin and dealin today at the Vet. He would go 9 innings and give up 1 run on 5 hits. He would also strikeout 10. He improves to (4-3) on the season. His only mistake was leaving a fastball over the heart of the plate to Juan Samuel who put it in the leftfield seats. Kevin Gross matched Welch inning for inning but he was pulled for a pinch hitter in the 8th. Shane Rawley would take over in the 9th. Rawley (2-6) would take the loss after giving up a solo homer to Mike Marshall to lead off the 9th.
