May 20, 1985 Game 456: Red Sox (23-12) at Twins (15-21)

Mark Salas had a big day at the plate.  He went 4-4 with 2 2B's, a HR (3) and 3 RBI.  His RBI double in the 2nd gave the Twins a 2-0 lead.  He would make it 4-0 in the 5th when he hit a double to left and Jim Rice couldn't dig it out of the corner allowing Salas to score.  He made it 8-0 with a solo in the 8th off of Mark Clear.

Mike Smithson (4-4) would pitch a shutout today.  He would scatter 7 hits and strike-out 9.  The Red Sox would leave 7 runners on base and 5 of those would be in scoring position.  Tim Lollar (2-1) making a spot start was roughed up.  He gave up 7 runs on 6 hits and 6 walks in 5.1 innings pitched.
