Willie McGee had 2 base hits at BUSCH STADIUM as the Cincinnati Reds lost a heartbreaker to St. Louis Cardinals by the score of 5 to 4. 

The game was won by St. Louis when they scored a run in the bottom of the 9th inning. After an out was recorded, Ozzie Smith laced a one-base hit. Ivan Dejesus was next and he doubled. Vince Coleman then lined a base-hit giving St. Louis the victory and sending the 47,708 home-town fans home happy. St. Louis rapped out 10 hits for the afternoon. 

The winning pitcher was Ken Dayley(7-0) who allowed no runs in 2 innings. John Franco(1-1) ended up with the loss in relief. He allowed 3 hits and no walks in 1/3 of an inning.
