June 2, 1985: Cubs (27-19) at Astros (18-30)

They almost ran out of baseballs at The Astrodome as Houston Astros clobbered the Chicago Cubs pitching staff, scoring 14 runs while Joe Niekro(2-8), with relief help from Ron Mathis, allowed Chicago 5 runs.

Jose Cruz had a good evening at the plate. He doubled scoring two baserunners in the 1st inning and lofted a three-run 'big-fly' in the 8th inning. Houston ended up with 15 hits for the game while Chicago had 8.

Dennis Eckersley(7-2) was the losing pitcher. He was not very effective, surrendering 7 runs in 4 innings.
