San Francisco was unable to recover after Montreal went ahead in the 4th inning scoring a single run. Bill Laskey(2-2) was helped out by Jeff Reardon who pitched a perfect ninth and recorded his 9th save.
Vida Blue(1-8) suffered the loss. He allowed 4 runs and 6 hits in 5 innings.
