June 8, 1985: Tigers (32-20) at Blue Jays (32-22)

The Toronto Blue Jays and the Detroit Tigers locked up in an exciting one-run game at EXHIBITION STADIUM. The final score was the Toronto Blue Jays 6, the Detroit Tigers 5.

Jimmy Key(6-3) was solid if not spectacular. He went 8 innings surrendering 11 hits and 1 walk and surrendered 2 homeruns. Tom Henke pitched a perfect ninth to earn his 8th save.

Dan Petry(7-5) took the loss. He allowed 3 homeruns in 6 innings of work. 'I always am most impressed when a pitcher finds a way to win even without his best stuff,' Bobby Cox said after the game. 'Key did not have command of his pitches most of the afternoon, but he proved he really knew how to pitch!'
