June 9, 1985: Padres (34-21) at Reds (25-29)

Eric Show had a strong outing as the San Diego Padres defeated the Cincinnati Reds 4 to 2 at RIVERFRONT STADIUM.

San Diego came up with all the runs they needed in the 2nd inning when they scored 4 runs on 3 hits. That early run support was enough for Show(8-5) and San Diego. San Diego rapped out 7 hits for the afternoon.

Mario Soto(8-4) was hit with the loss. He gave up 4 runs and 6 hits in 7 innings. Pete Rose was obviously impressed with the pitching of Show, 'That guy made us look a little silly out there this afternoon. We just couldn't get to him at all - everything was working for him. I just hope that he got that kinda performance out of his system.'
