Walt Terrell(6-4) pitched a fine game. He was reached for 6 hits and 1 walk in 6 and 1/3 innings. Detroit finished with 11 hits in the victory. 

Terrell got help from Willie Hernandez who earned his 13th save. Jim Clancy(1-5) absorbed the loss. He got hit hard, allowing 8 hits and 3 walks in 5 innings. 

With the win Detroit now has a record of a division leading 33-20. With the loss Toronto now has a record of 32-23.
