Johnny Ray had 2 base hits and 3 RBI at WRIGLEY FIELD as the Pittsburgh Pirates beat the Chicago Cubs in 10 innings by the count of 7 to 4. 

The score was tied at 4 after nine. Pittsburgh won the hard fought contest in the 10th inning. Marvell Wynne started the inning off right when he reached on an error. Joe Orsulak stepped up next and he stroked a one-base hit. Orsulak took second on the throw. Steve Kemp then delivered a base-hit. Ray was up next and he banged out a single. After an out was recorded, Mike Brown stepped up to the plate and he singled. Pittsburgh had 11 hits for the game and Chicago had 8. 

Cecilio Guante(1-1) was the winner allowing no runs in 2 and 2/3 innings. Don Robinson was credited with his 1st save. Dick Ruthven(1-2) was the losing pitcher in relief.
