June 11, 1985: Mets (34-21) at Phillies ( 21-34)

Ron Darling pitched a complete game at VETERANS STADIUM as the New York Mets beat the Philadelphia Phillies by the count of 9 to 2. 

New York took the lead for good in the 3rd inning scoring one runner on 2 base hits. Kelvin Chapman laced a one-base hit. Rafael Santana came next and he drew a walk. Darling then slapped a single. Wally Backman got his chance to keep things going, but he went down on strikes. New York totaled 11 hits on the night. 

Darling(6-5) lasted until the end allowing 2 runs for the win. The losing pitcher was Steve Carlton(6-2). He surrendered 5 hits and 2 walks in 5 innings.
