June 11, 1985: Padres (35-22) at Astros (24-32)

Bill Doran had 5 hits and 2 RBI as the Houston Astros won a heart-stopping victory over the San Diego Padres, 4 to 3. 

The deciding run was scored by Houston in the bottom of the 9th. Jim Pankovits drew a walk. Doran stepped up next and he hit a single. One out later, Kevin Bass followed, but he was set down on strikes. Glenn Davis followed and he slapped a one-base hit making Houston the victors to the delight of the home town faithful. Houston totaled 11 hits on the night. 

Ron Mathis(1-2) got the win allowing no runs in 2 innings. The loss was charged to Tim Stoddard(0-1) in relief. The Houston ballclub's record now stands at 24-32. With the loss, San Diego has a record of 7-3 lately, 35-22 overall.
