June 14, 1985: Royals (35-24) at Mariners (30-30)

Matt Young had a complete game as the Seattle Mariners topped the Kansas City Royals by a score of 2 to 1 at The Kingdome.

Kansas City was unable to recover after Seattle went ahead in the bottom of the 2nd inning plating an isolated run. After an out was recorded, Al Cowens reached on an error. After another out, Jim Presley came to the plate and stroked a one-base hit. Presley took second on the throw. Kansas City threatened in the 9th but their rally came up short.

The win was credited to Young(8-4) who went the whole way allowing 1 run. Bud Black(7-5) was the losing pitcher. He pitched 8 innings giving up only 5 hits and 1 walk.
