June 14, 1985: Tigers (35-22) at Yankees (30-27)

Left fielder Larry Herndon connected with a 'big fly' and had 3 RBI as the Detroit Tigers defeated the New York Yankees 7 to 4 at YANKEE STADIUM. 

New York was unable to climb back into it after Detroit went ahead for good in the 2nd inning when they tallied 2 runs on 2 hits. The big moment was provided by John Grubb who disappointed the partisan crowd when he smashed a two-run homer. Detroit totaled 8 hits on the night. 

Dan Petry(8-5) allowed 4 runs in 6 and 2/3 innings, and picked up the victory. Aurelio Lopez earned the save, his 2nd. Joe Cowley(3-6) was hit with the loss. He allowed 3 homeruns in 6 innings of work.
