Andy Van Slyke hit 2 doubles and had 4 RBI as the St. Louis Cardinals clobbered the outmatched Chicago Cubs, 13 to 3. 

In the top of the 5th inning St. Louis scored 5 runs with the help of 4 hits. The key at-bat was by Terry Pendleton who silenced the crowd when he delivered a single bringing in two baserunners. St. Louis had 16 hits for the afternoon while Chicago had 4. 

Ricky Horton(4-0) went 7 innings allowing 3 runs for the win. Rick Sutcliffe(7-4) took the loss. He was knocked around, surrendering 6 runs in 4 and 2/3 innings. 

St. Louis continued their winnings ways improving their record to 37-22. They are 8-2 in their last ten games. With the loss, the Chicago ballclub's record is 34-23.
