Bryn Smith took a no-hitter into the 7th inning at OLYMPIC STADIUM as the Montreal Expos beat the New York Mets by the count of 2 to 0. 

Smith(4-7) escaped virtually unscathed against the New York hitters. He allowed only 1 hit and no walks in 9 innings reducing his ERA from 2.94 to 2.69. The right-handed Smith had his no-hit bid broken up by Danny Heep who singled with one out in the 7th inning. The pitchers took over after the 2nd inning as neither team was able to score again. 

Ron Darling(6-6) absorbed the loss. He gave up just 2 runs and 3 hits in 8 innings. With this win, Montreal has a 28-33 record. They have been 7-3 lately. With the loss, New York has a record of 4-6 lately, 36-23 overall.
