June 16, 1985: Tigers (36-23) at Yankees (31-28)

In a close game the Detroit Tigers got by the New York Yankees in 10 innings by the score of 4 to 2. 

The score was tied at 2 after nine. Detroit won the game in the 10th inning. Chet Lemon led off and he stroked a single. Larry Herndon stepped up next and he singled. Tom Brookens then laid down a sacrifice bunt. Bob Melvin came up and he doubled. Detroit banged out 8 hits on the afternoon. 

The winning pitcher was Frank Tanana(7-2) who allowed 2 runs in 9 innings. Tanana was helped out by Willie Hernandez who recorded his 14th save. Ron Guidry(9-4) was the losing pitcher.
