June 17, 1985: Red Sox (38-24) at Tigers (36-24)

Jackie Gutierrez blasted a homerun and had 2 RBI at TIGER STADIUM where the Boston Red Sox beat the Detroit Tigers in 11 innings by the score of 5 to 4. 

The score was knotted at 4 after nine innings. Finally, Boston pulled the game out in the 11th inning. Rich Gedman banged out a single. After an out was recorded, Gutierrez stepped in and he doubled. For the game Boston out-hit Detroit 13 to 9. 

Bruce Kison(2-2) picked up the victory, allowing no runs in 2 innings. Bob Stanley recorded the save, his 18th. Randy O'Neal(0-2) was the loser in relief. 

The Boston ballclub's record now stands at 38-24. With the loss Detroit now has a record of 36-24.
