June 18, 1985: Cubs (35-26) at Mets (39-23)

Dwight Gooden completed the game without help from the bullpen at SHEA STADIUM where the New York Mets beat the Chicago Cubs by the score of 6 to 2. 

Keith Hernandez made sure the New York fans enjoyed themselves. He doubled in the 7th inning and lofted a three-run bomb in the 8th inning. New York banged out 7 hits on the night. 

The win was credited to Gooden(9-1) who went the whole way allowing 2 runs. Dennis Eckersley(8-4) was tagged with the loss. He surrendered 2 runs and 5 hits in 6 and 1/3 innings.
