Steve Balboni went yard and had 2 RBI and Bret Saberhagen shutout Minnesota while allowing the Kansas City bullpen a day-off as the Kansas City Royals topped the reeling Minnesota Twins by a score of 6 to 0 at ROYALS STADIUM. 

Saberhagen(9-3) put on a good performance. He didn't allow much, just 8 hits and 1 walk in 9 innings reducing his ERA from 2.54 to 2.32. Kansas City finished with 9 hits in the victory. 

Mike Smithson(4-6) was tagged with the loss. He gave up 6 hits and no walks in 6 and 1/3 innings.
