June 23, 1985: Yankees (34-32) at Tigers (41-25)

Todd Crane had a strong outing as the Detroit Tigers beat the New York Yankees by a score of 2 to 0.

Detroit came up with 2 runs in the bottom of the 2nd inning with the help of 3 hits. After an out was recorded, Darrell Evans jump-started the rally as he singled. Larry Herndon was next and he lined a one-base hit. Chet Lemon then tripled. After another out, Tom Brookens got his turn next, but he was a strikeout victim. That was all the offense they were to need. The pitchers took over after the 2nd inning as neither team was able to score again.

It was the 3rd shutout of the year for Crane(7-3). Joe Cowley(4-7) was tagged with the loss. He pitched 8 innings allowing 6 hits and 4 walks.
