Bud Black recorded a complete game shutout and Lonnie Smith had 4 hits as the Kansas City Royals defeated the Minnesota Twins by a score of 4 to 0 at METRODOME. 

Black(9-5) was simply too much for the Minnesota batters. He allowed only 7 hits and no walks in 9 innings lowering his ERA from 3.34 to 3.07. Kansas City finished with 11 hits in the victory. 

Ken Schrom(5-2) absorbed the loss. He surrendered 11 hits and 1 walk in 6 and 2/3 innings.
