Gary Ward hit one over the fence and had 2 RBI as the Texas Rangers defeated the Seattle Mariners 8 to 7 at The Kingdome. 

Texas brought 3 runs across the plate in the 7th inning when they had 4 base hits. It was enough scoring to earn the victory. The game was a wild affair with the lead changing hands 5 times. 

The win was credited to Dave Schmidt(3-2) who went 2 and 1/3 innings allowing 1 run. Greg Harris earned the save, his 12th. The loss was charged to Frank Wills(1-5). He was touched for 10 hits and 4 walks in 6 and 1/3 innings. 

Texas now has a record of 34-36. With the loss Seattle now has a record of 35-35.
