June 27, 1985: Braves (22-48) at Astros (34-37)

Mark Bailey hit a homer and had 5 RBI as the Houston Astros defeated the league door-mat Atlanta Braves by a score of 8 to 7 at Colt Stadium. 

Bailey enjoyed a fine evening at the plate. He belted a three-run homer in the 1st inning and laced a base-hit scoring two baserunners in the 6th inning. Atlanta was out-hit by Houston, 14 hits to 8. 

Bob Knepper(9-6) went 6 innings allowing 7 runs for the win. Knepper got help from Dave Smith who earned his 14th save. Zane Smith(3-7) suffered the loss. He allowed a few too many baserunners giving up 12 hits and 2 walks in 5 and 2/3 innings. 

With this win, Houston has a 34-37 record. They have been 6-4 lately. Atlanta continued their losing ways and their record is now 22-48, worst in the division. They are 1-9 in their last ten games.
