June 27, 1985: Mets (45-25) at Cubs (39-30)

Catcher Gary Carter ripped a bases loaded blast and Sid Fernandez went 8 strong innings as the New York Mets destroyed the Chicago Cubs by a score of 15 to 4 at WRIGLEY FIELD. 

Carter led the offense for New York. He doubled which scored a run in the 2nd inning and depressed the partisan hometown fans with a grand slam home run in the 6th inning. New York kept the scorekeepers busy in the 6th inning with 5 runs. New York dominated offensively as they scored in 6 different innings. 

Fernandez(12-2) was the winner allowing 2 runs in 8 innings. Steve Trout(9-5) ended up with the loss. He allowed New York 6 runs in 4 innings of work.
