July 5, 1985: White Sox (36-40) at Indians (31-50)

The Chicago White Sox edged the Cleveland Indians at MUNICIPAL STADIUM by the score of 6 to 5.

Floyd Bannister(6-8) pitched well for Chicago in their victory. He was reached for 3 hits and 1 walk in 5 innings. Bannister struckout 8 Cleveland batters. Cleveland threatened in the 9th but their rally came up short.

Bannister was helped out by Bob James who recorded his 18th save. Vern Ruhle(4-5) was tagged with the loss. Chicago knocked him around a bit, as he gave up 6 runs in 5 innings.

"Just one or two mistakes were all it took to beat us tonight" Pat Corrales said. "We take these games one day at a time, but this one was hard to take."
