July 5, 1985: Padres (49-31) at Pirates (31-46)

One run was the difference at Forbes Field as the Pittsburgh Pirates defeated the San Diego Padres 5 to 4. 

Rick Reuschel(9-3) was solid if not spectacular. He allowed 8 hits and no walks in 7 innings and allowed 2 gopher balls. Reuschel got help from Cecilio Guante who pitched great and earned his 13th save. 

Lamarr Hoyt(9-7) ended up with the loss. The Pittsburgh ballclub's record now stands at 31-46. With the loss San Diego now has a record of 49-31.
