At FULTON CTY STADIUM the streaking New York Mets put 5 runs on the scoreboard in the 2nd inning and outdistanced the slumping Atlanta Braves by a final score of 6 to 2. 

Rick Aguilera(2-7) pitched a fine game. He surrendered 4 hits and 3 walks in 8 innings lowering his ERA to 4.43. Overall New York out-hit Atlanta 9 to 5. 

Len Barker(4-9) absorbed the loss. He got hammered, allowing 8 hits and 2 walks in 5 innings. New York continued their winnings ways and have won 14 straight and improved their record to a division leading 55-25. Eddie Haas was pretty down after the loss. 'We've really been sputtering along lately, something like 0-12 in the last week or two. That won't get it done.'
