The Boston Red Sox defeated the Oakland Athletics by a score of 7 to 4 at OAKLAND COLISEUM. 

Roger Clemens(12-5) gave a fine effort for Boston. He went 7 innings allowing 6 hits and 1 walk and was touched for 2 homeruns. Boston out-hit Oakland for the game, 16 hits to 7. 

Clemens got help from Mark Clear who earned his 1st save. The losing pitcher was Bill Krueger(3-8). He was touched for 10 hits and 4 walks in 4 and 1/3 innings.
