July 10, 1985: Padres (50-35) at Cubs (49-33)

Rick Sutcliffe shutout San Diego while allowing the Chicago bullpen a day-off at WRIGLEY FIELD as the Chicago Cubs beat the San Diego Padres by the count of 1 to 0. 

Sutcliffe(11-5) gave Chicago a solid outing. He surrendered only 4 hits and 4 walks in 9 innings dropping his ERA from 3.43 to 3.20. San Diego threatened in the 9th but their rally came up short. 

Eric Show(11-8) was hit with the loss. Dick Williams was in a sour mood after the game. 'Even you guys up in the press box know why we lost this game. We made too many mistakes.'
