July 10, 1985: Royals (48-36) at Yankees (45-37)

Steve Balboni homered and had 3 RBI as the Kansas City Royals bested the New York Yankees 8 to 6 at YANKEE STADIUM.

Bud Black(11-5) gave a fine effort for Kansas City. He allowed 10 hits and 3 walks in 7 and 2/3 innings. Both teams totaled 12 hits on the afternoon.

Dan Quisenberry earned his 19th save. Ed Whitson(6-10) took the loss. He was not very effective, surrendering 7 runs in 4 innings.

'I just wanted to give my team a chance to win.' said Black, 'I got burned on a couple of pitches. But we won the game, and that's all that matters.'
