July 11, 1985: Brewers (34-49) at A's (33-52)

Left fielder Dave Collins had 2 base hits and 2 RBI as the Oakland Athletics defeated the Milwaukee Brewers by a score of 9 to 2 at OAKLAND COLISEUM. 

Oakland took the lead off Pete Vuckovich in the first inning plating an isolated run. After an out was recorded, Mike Gallego drew a walk. One out later, Dave Kingman came to bat and drew a walk. Dwayne Murphy then doubled scoring the run. Oakland managed 11 hits in their victory. 

Tim Birtsas(7-2) allowed 2 runs in 5 and 2/3 innings, and picked up the victory. Steve Ontiveros gained credit for his 1st save. The loss was charged to Vuckovich(1-4). He was knocked around by Oakland, allowing 8 hits and 5 walks in 4 and 1/3 innings. 

The Oakland ballclub's record now stands at 33-52. George Bamberger was pretty down after the loss. 'We've really been sputtering along lately, something like 2-8 in the last week or two. That won't get it done.'
