July 12, 1985: Giants (35-51) at Pirates (34-50)

Dan Gladden collected 2 extra-base hits as the San Francisco Giants defeated the Pittsburgh Pirates 6 to 1 at Forbes Field.

San Francisco went ahead for good in the 2nd inning plating an isolated run on 2 base hits. Dan Driessen doubled. Chris Brown got his turn next, but he was a strikeout victim. Bob Brenly then banged out a single scoring the run. Pittsburgh was out-hit by San Francisco, 12 hits to 7.

Atlee Hammaker(10-4) got credit for the victory, pitching 6 innings and allowing 1 run. Scott Garrelts recorded the save, his 2nd. Larry McWilliams(5-7) was hit with the loss. He got hammered, allowing 10 hits and 4 walks in 4 and 1/3 innings.

Jim Davenport was just happy to get a win, 'We've had such a bad streak of games -- boy, it's great to get the monkey off our back. Now maybe we can relax a little and play the kind of baseball of which we are capable.'
