Ron Darling(10-8) had a steady outing. He was reached for 7 hits and 3 walks in 6 innings. Houston threatened in the 9th but their rally came up short. 

Roger McDowell earned the save, his 9th. Nolan Ryan(9-10) was given the loss. 'We won because we did the little things right.' Davey Johnson said after the game. 'This is why we practice things over and over and over, so when we get in close games we don't make mistakes.'
