July 13, 1985: Mets (59-27) at Astros (40-47)

Ed Lynch had a strong outing as the New York Mets beat the Houston Astros by a score of 6 to 0.

Houston was unable to claim the lead after New York went ahead in the 5th inning scoring one runner. New York totaled 8 hits on the night.

It was the 3rd shutout of the year for Lynch(12-3). The loss was charged to Mike Scott(5-9). He gave up 4 runs and 4 hits in 5 and 1/3 innings.

Bob Lillis lamented, 'Lynch was really aggressive tonight. He kept coming after our hitters. Heck, why not. he kept sitting our guys down one after another - like so many bowling pins!'
