July 14, 1985: Expos (40-48) at Reds (46-41)

Mario Soto struck out 10 batters as the Cincinnati Reds defeated the Montreal Expos by a score of 2 to 1 at Crosley Field.

Soto(13-7) contributed a very nicely pitched game. He didn't give up much, just 5 hits and 3 walks in 8 and 1/3 innings. Montreal had a chance to come back in the 9th but they came up short.

John Franco recorded the save, his 20th. Joe Hesketh(8-6) was the losing pitcher. Soto was jubilant in the hometown clubhouse, 'It was a lot of fun out there. The fans gave me a lot of support as did my teammates. We got the victory and I'll sure take 10 strikeouts anytime!'
