July 14, 1985: Padres (50-39) at Cardinals (52-34)

The ice-cold San Diego Padres pitching staff was overwhelmed by the blistering-hot St. Louis Cardinals lineup who plated 11 runs while John Tudor(11-4), with relief help from Ricky Horton, surrendered 2 runs to San Diego.

The home town fans were very appreciative of the fine hitting performance provided by Tommy Herr. He lined a single which scored a run in the 4th inning, doubled which was good for two runs in the 5th inning and banged out a one-base hit plating two runs in the 8th inning. Overall St. Louis out-hit San Diego 12 to 8.

Lamarr Hoyt(9-9) was the losing pitcher. He gave up 8 hits and 3 walks in 6 innings.
