July 18, 1985: Angels (41-47) at Red Sox (55-34)

In a good matchup it was the California Angels 9, the Boston Red Sox 7 at FENWAY PARK. 

California scored the winning runs in the 8th inning when they tallied 5 runs on 5 hits. The critical plate appearance was by Rod Carew who helped quiet the crowd when he doubled bringing in two baserunners. Boston made it exciting in the 9th, but they were unable to push the needed runs across. 

Rafael Lugo(7-4) got the win allowing no runs in 3 and 1/3 innings. Donnie Moore recorded the save, his 17th. Tim Lollar(6-3) was the loser in relief.
