July 19, 1985: Braves (25-63) at Mets (62-27)

Right fielder Clint Hurdle went yard as the New York Mets outscored the pathetic Atlanta Braves 2 to 1.

New York came up with 1 run in the bottom of the 3rd inning. That was all the offense they were to need. The pitchers took over after the 3rd inning as neither team was able to score again.

The win went to Ron Darling(11-8) who allowed 1 run in 7 innings. Darling got help from Roger McDowell who earned his 11th save. Steve Bedrosian(2-15) was charged with the loss.

New York won for the 6th straight time. 'It seems we can't lose these days', Davey Johnson volunteered after the game. Then after a moment to reflect he lamented, 'Oh great! Now I've gone and jinxed us!'
