July 20, 1985: Royals (51-40) at Orioles (43-46)

In a lop-sided win the Kansas City Royals tallied 5 runs in the 1st inning and ripped the Baltimore Orioles by a 10 to 5 count.

Kansas City took the lead off Ken Dixon in the first inning scoring 5 runners on 1 hit. The highlight belonged to Steve Balboni who disappointed the partisan crowd when he quieted the crowd by clouting a Grand Slam. Baltimore had 12 hits in the game while Kansas City had 7, but Kansas City had the more timely hits.

Mark Gubicza(9-7) went 6 innings allowing 5 runs for the win. Gubicza got relief help from Mike Jones who gained credit for his 1st save. Dixon(3-7) was tagged with the loss. He allowed 3 homeruns in 4 and 1/3 innings of work.
