July 21, 1985: Pirates (37-53) at Padres (51-42)

Lamarr Hoyt whitewashed Pittsburgh as the San Diego Padres topped the Pittsburgh Pirates by a score of 4 to 0 at JACK MURPHY STADIUM.

Hoyt(10-9) was in control of the game from the outset. He didn't allow much, just 5 hits and 4 walks in 9 innings. San Diego finished with 10 hits in the victory.

Larry McWilliams(5-8) was tagged with the loss. Dick Williams was just happy to get a win, 'We've had such a bad streak of games -- boy, it's great to get the monkey off our back. Now maybe we can relax a little and play the kind of baseball of which we are capable.'
